We were the kind of kids who read alot of comic books. Titles like Marvel Team Up, What If? and Marvel Two In One were our favorites. Titles where the idea of superheroes who lived in the same neighbourhood getting together from time to time to beat up on dudes like Zarrko the Tomorrow Man was completely legit and plausible.

We here at La Ti Da Records like to believe a world like that can exist. To do our bit, we asked Needles//Pins to team up with Felix Fung for a little crimefighting at Little Red Studios this past Saturday. The results are amazing:

We’re so goddamn stoked to have Fist City on board for our latest string of releases! The lone non-Vancouver act for this particular wave of singles, Fist City have been blowing our minds since their debut on Deadbeat a couple years back. Straight up, one of the best live bands in Western Canada. Period. With the imminent release of their sophomore lp on Black Tent (pre-sales now available), the band somehow managed to write and record a pair of brand new tracks for us before heading out for their summer-long tour.

Zero Hour. Million Miles Away. Last night was fantastic. It was such a treat to hear Paul Collins and Peter Case on stage together playing so many of our favorite songs. It was so nice to think about something else than being livid about the media bias regarding local job action, if only for an evening.

Make that three evenings. Now it is time to gear up for Nobunny/Indian Wars. Well, gear up is a stretch. One of us is walking about his home, moaning about his aching head, and playing me Incredible Kidda Band 45s. The other is strongly considering some $1/$2 at the River Rock Poker Room. That would be the one of us who lives on island without poker rooms, the one of us who otherwise plays online. Thankfully, playing on sites such as http://www.partypoker.fr/ makes online play pretty much the equivalent of a trip to the ATM machine…don’t say the French never gave you anything but baguettes and The Fatals…but I digress.
