Thank you!

Before we all keel over, or figure out what day it is, there is a list of serious thanks to give:

First and foremost, the most massive of credit to all the bands who came by planes, trains and automobiles to make this weekend happen. You had us in tears of joy and stitches of laughter, and luckily neither of the other kind. You constantly remind us why we’re so lucky to have such a great excuse to pull our pals together.

To our unofficial mascot and the man who provided the unofficial sound track to not one, but TWO nights of FD/GD 2013, Russell Quan, we wish you could stay forever!

Our deepest appreciation to The Biltmore Cabaret, The Astoria, Neptoon Records and The Electric Owl for being so damn hospitable, accommodating and supportive all along the way! Our party was so lucky to happen within your walls!

A giant acknowledgment to our media partners for their coverage: The Georgia Straight, Citr, Beat Route and Skinny Magazine! We can’t wait to see all the photos we saw you snapping. Thanks for telling people they should care about anything we do at all.

ALSO a thunderous cheers to our sponsor Coal Harbour Brewing Company! Quenching thirsts well into Monday morning!

All the light and love to Not Just Religious Music and King Dude for the literal lengths they went to getting from Europe to the Roky Erickson show. You’ll always be part of our LA-TI-DA Family.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers who shuttled bands around, did door, and covered merch to keep things moving. We literally couldn’t have done it without you, and you did it just to be a part of it. That’s a beautiful thing, from you magnificent people.

Crowsnest crew, you know how much we love you.

Honestly, the sheer altruism, help and support that collectively pulled this off was humbling. We are so very grateful.

A couple day’s hibernation, it’s back to business. Jay Vons 45s and Ballantynes EPs on the way to your mailboxes. The last batch of releases right behind.

Don’t call it goodbye, call it until next year….

Tim, Vanessa, Corey, and Dale!

Steve Adamyk Band to Replace Hex Dispensers for FD/GD + A Couple Perks!

FD/GD-2013

Big news day, folks. Here we go……

Let’s get the bad news out the way first: due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, it’s with heavy hearts that we have to announce that The Hex Dispeners must cancel their show, as well as the dates in PDX and Victoria that were scheduled to bookend their FD/GD appearance. On behalf of the band and the team of promoters involved, we can say wholeheartedly that this decision was not made lightly. We can also say that rescheduling for early ’14 is already in the works and we can hardly wait.

In the meantime, with big shoes to fill… Pretty sure Steve wears size eleven. So happy to announce that Dirtnap recording artists Steve Adamyk Band are flying in all the way from Ottawa to fill the void! Even better, our own SAB single should be out just in time, adding to the long list of record releases parties we’re throwing down! SAB will also be playing Logan’s Pub Saturday, Nov 16th with The Mants and The Line Traps for all you islanders. Welcome aboard, Steve & Co!

Thanks again to all of you who snagged those Roky Erickson advance tickets: now SOLD OUT! For those of you who are opting for wristbands (now your only way to see the Roky show), here’s a couple incentives to sweeten the deal:

This Friday at The Astoria, LA-TI-DA RECORDS presents Ballantynes EP release with Skinny Kids and Gang Signs. Available at the merch table will be DISCOUNTED wristbands for $40 w/ admission. For those of you who have already purchased wristbands, bring your ticket or proof of purchase down to the Astoria and you’re in for free! Just don’t lose it…

If that’s not enough, The Electric Owl & Crowsnest present Nobunny, Audacity and B-Lines Tuesday, Nov 19th!
For those of you nursing two day hangovers after Roky, hang onto those wristbands: Present them at the door before 10PM, and the show is just $5! Five fucking bucks!

STOKED!

Steve Adamyk Band “High Above/Hate Myself/A Promise Is A Promise” (LTDR019)…and a whole lot more

Without further ado….

Steve Adamyk Band “High Above/Hate Myself/A Promise Is A Promise” (LTDR019)

We’ve had the A-side steaming for while; now you can hear the B-side in all it’s glory! ‘Hate Myself’ is one of those SAB jams you’ve all come to know and love; with ‘A Promise Is A Promise,’ the guys grabbed Chris Page (Camp Radio, The Stand GT) and paid homage to west coast pop-punk legends, Bum! Teengenerate, eat yer heart out!

Pre-order is up as of today. This will be shipping later in the Fall. Speaking of singles, singles clubs, pre-orders and orders, Maniac is a go! Singles go out this week!

We also have another little piece we snuck out into the world this past weekend: a cassette compilation of the first 12 singles, courtesy of our friends at Hosehead Records! Limited to 100 copies in total, Hosehead is already sold out of their copies, and we’re down to less than half already. Shopping cart is up while these last.

Last but certainly not least……

Get ready: line up announcement next week……

Back to Civilization, but Still Out of Control….

On behalf of The Ballantynes, a big thanks to everyone who made Squamish such a great time! Shout outs to Gumby and the wine-smoothie chick! Day-makers for sure.

Tons of recaps to kill your coffee break: Vancouver Sun, Georgia Straight, and the Vancouver Weekly all weighing in.

And speaking of loveable characters from our youth, are we in Pee Wee’s Playhouse? Cause I swear the word of the day is FESTIVALS!

Next stop? Victoria, BC for Rifflandia 2013!
latida-rifflandia

A whole pack of us are getting together for a big LA-TI-DA party and SHOWCASE Saturday, September 14th at the Victoria Events Centre: Needles//Pins, The Ballantynes, and all the way from Brooklyn, NY, The Jay Vons! Doors at 8:30 PM.

If you’ve doing the wristband or night pass thing, we recommend getting down there early; if previous years at VEC are any indication, it’s going to be a busy, busy night.

Then grab whatever soothes your hang over and hit Royal Athletic Park at NOON on Sunday, September 15th where The Ballantynes will be warming up the MAIN STAGE for dudes like Big Boi and Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

We coudn’t be more excited for Riff. Of the many, many logs in the proverbial campfire this summer, this one burns pretty bright.

Burning bright? Burning out? Out of our minds? WE MUST BE because the ball is rolling for FALL DOWN / GET DOWN 2013 November 14th-17th! We’ve set the dates, mark them on your calendars, and we promise all will be revealed soon!

Stay tuned, because we’ve got MORE EXCITING LA-TI-DA ANNOUNCEMENTS coming this month!
