The Jay Vons West Coast Weekend!

Here at L-T-D, we’re getting way excited about the upcoming Jay Vons 45! Cause for celebration, right? Right. Therefore, it was only fitting that we got the boys out west for a trio of release parties!

First stop? Seattle!

The Jay Vons jet-set into Sea-Tac this Thursday to play The Sunset with their friends Red Jacket Mine (fresh from their appearance at this year’s B’shoot) and The Tripwires (ex and current YFF, Model Rockets, and Mudhoney). Event details here.

Where to next? Friday night in Vancouver for a very specal edition of the East Van Soul Club:

For the ever-attending choir, ‘scuse us while we preach to the unconverted: September EVSC events go off like roman candles. And that’s without the double whammy of having The Ballantynes and The Jay Vons kicking the night off on Friday the goddamn 13th! TGIF, indeed. All the details are here. With school back in session and student loans being spent indiscriminately, this one is going to pack out early.

Finally, the event that got the whole ball rolling: this year’s edition of Rifflandia!

Now in its sixth (!) year, Rifflandia is taking place in venues across Victoria, BC, Thurs Sept 12-Sun, Sept 15th. Boasting an eclectic roster that includes Courtney Love, Big Boi, Edward Sharpe, DFA, and The Orb (for all you dancing types), this year’s fall classic continues to challenge the notion of Victoria’s rep as “home of the newlywed & nearly-dead” The Jay Vons headline our Saturday night showcase over at the Event Center. For those of you with wristbands or night passes: honestly, and without hyperbole, get down to the VEC earlier than later. This spot will have a line up down the stairs before you’re two beers deep. Special thanks to the folks at Atomique Productions for their care and support of this night!

It’s safe to say there’ll be a two day hangover in the wake of this one, so we’ll pair up those JVs pre-orders with the Maniac pre-orders and start getting them out to Singles Club Subscribers starting on Tuesday, Sept 17th.

We’ll check in with you all then as well…lots more news coming down the pike….until then!

Back to Civilization, but Still Out of Control….

On behalf of The Ballantynes, a big thanks to everyone who made Squamish such a great time! Shout outs to Gumby and the wine-smoothie chick! Day-makers for sure.

Tons of recaps to kill your coffee break: Vancouver Sun, Georgia Straight, and the Vancouver Weekly all weighing in.

And speaking of loveable characters from our youth, are we in Pee Wee’s Playhouse? Cause I swear the word of the day is FESTIVALS!

Next stop? Victoria, BC for Rifflandia 2013!
latida-rifflandia

A whole pack of us are getting together for a big LA-TI-DA party and SHOWCASE Saturday, September 14th at the Victoria Events Centre: Needles//Pins, The Ballantynes, and all the way from Brooklyn, NY, The Jay Vons! Doors at 8:30 PM.

If you’ve doing the wristband or night pass thing, we recommend getting down there early; if previous years at VEC are any indication, it’s going to be a busy, busy night.

Then grab whatever soothes your hang over and hit Royal Athletic Park at NOON on Sunday, September 15th where The Ballantynes will be warming up the MAIN STAGE for dudes like Big Boi and Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

We coudn’t be more excited for Riff. Of the many, many logs in the proverbial campfire this summer, this one burns pretty bright.

Burning bright? Burning out? Out of our minds? WE MUST BE because the ball is rolling for FALL DOWN / GET DOWN 2013 November 14th-17th! We’ve set the dates, mark them on your calendars, and we promise all will be revealed soon!

Stay tuned, because we’ve got MORE EXCITING LA-TI-DA ANNOUNCEMENTS coming this month!

The Jay Vons “Night (Was Stealing From The Sun) / Days Undone” (LTDR017)

We couldn’t be prouder to announce The Jay Vons latest!

Recorded by Wayne “Johnny Cakes” Gordon at Daptone Studios with Budos Band baritone Jared Tankel guesting, The Jay Vons deliver two tracks with the stamp of quality you’ve all come to expect from those hallowed halls. You may have seen the Brookyln-based foursome backing Greg Cartwright in The Reigning Sound or seen members on the road with Daptone artists such as Lee Fields & The Expressions or Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens, but you haven’t heard them like this! Wrap it up in an absolutely skookum cover from Obits frontman Rick Froberg, and you got yourself a trip to the record store. Or Paypal cart if you’re so inclined.

For those of us on the west coast, you can look forward to a visit from The JVs this September. As announced last week, the boys will be coming out for this year’s Rifflandia festival, with a stop in Vancouver on the way.

Until then, pre-order now, or, as always, grab a singles pack and get the limited edition color vinyl. 350 reg/150 color.

US pals: Have a great fourth!

The LA-TI-DA Records Spring Singles Club 2013

Hello friends!
A little over a month ago we announced our Spring Singles Club, and now with a little less than a month before our first release of 2013, we thought now would be the perfect time to let these cats out of the bag and into the night, cause we’re just too excited to wait any longer!LTDR-SinglesClub-2013

(LTDR014) The Wild Ones
From Santa Cruz to your stereo, from the bottle to your lips, this single pairs well with day drinking and day dreaming about rain while baking in the sun. The perfect sound track to skinned knees on long legs.

(LTDR015) Maniac
Featuring members of West Coast staples Clorox Girls, The Girls, and The Cute Lepers, Maniac are the gentlemen punks from the city of angels. Shake it up with their freshman release.

(LTDR016) The Ballantynes
Back with another dose of their rainy revelry, another match up with engineer Felix Fung has the gang set to make it a habit with a third Little Red hot single. These feel good/feel bad hits are sure to get you dancing!

(LTDR017) The Jay Vons
Recorded and mixed in Brooklyn’s Daptone Studios, this release is a two song slice of the real deal. Blue eyed soul and garage pedigree collide and smolder from A side to B side, leaving embers that could burn through any era.

(LTDR018) Needles // Pins
How does it feel to score the last beer, the last slice, and the last train all in one night? Like a new single from Vancouver’s favorite party punk heroes. Anywhere is the right place and anytime is the right time to set it up!

(LTDR019) Steve Adamyk Band
This hard striking talent from Canada’s capital is spreading like wild fire as our 7inch falls hot on the heels of their latest LP on Dirtnap. With more on the way from Ontario’s Hosehead Records it looks like 2013 is already shaping up to be a prolific year for our boys.

For $33, all six singles will be mailed to you in three pairs. Our goal is one pair a month, March to May, barring natural disaster or Record Store Day pressing pile ups. Coloured vinyl for the first 150 subscriptions.
